What you need to know about Motorcycle Adventure Jackets!

Looking to invest in your next adventure jacket? Offering more than just style and comfort, an Adventure Motorcycle jacket provides protection against both the elements and injury. To help you out with your next purchase, we have made a list of important features to look for.

Material and Comfort:

When it comes to the material of an adventure jacket, it’s important to ensure that the outer material or outer shell is secure and sturdy. Textile jackets are the preferred material for adventure riding as they fit for the sitting position of a rider and offer technical features such as vents, pockets and storm flaps.  For adventure riding specifically staying dry is a pleasantry easily had with the common water-repelling features. Checking the outer material will be the best first step in determining if a jacket is suitable for your next ride, then ensuring the quality of additional materials; looking to see if the zipper quality is fluent and smooth or if it catches, if the snap closure and buttons are heavy duty and whether the jacket is comfortable enough for a long journey.

Versatility:

Adventure jackets are designed to be one Jacket fits all. You’ll leave home in this Jacket, and no matter what weather event you come across, your adventure jacket should be able to tackle it with ease. Whether this is with air vents in hot climates, thermal linings for cold climates or waterproofing for rain an adventure jacket is built to have you comfy in any condition.

When you're adventure riding you've got to take a lot of belongings with you whilst also simultaneously trying to make sure you pack light. You need to be prepared for everything. So, the more you can carry on your body, you don't have to load up the bike. Adventure jackets have big enough pockets in which you can easily carry a number of required items.

What to look for when comparing adventure jackets and how they may impact your next ride?

RST Adventure X VS Motodry:

What you may find as main difference between the RST Adventure X and a Motodry Jacket is that the Motodry doesn't have the external armour, however, it still has three liners and a number of air vents and material features so this product is sold at a reasonable price point for its offering. If you're looking to get more involved in the dirt and you're anticipating you'll come off, it may just be the best alternative for you.

REV’IT!:

When it comes to top tier adventure jackets, REV’IT! is a well respected and trusted brand. Some of the features separating REV’IT! From entry level counterparts is the product durability and the ability to ride through numerous conditions for extended periods of time. REV’IT! Having been initially designed for European conditions offers extreme comfort in colder climates, making riding all year round that much more attainable. So, if you are looking to travel from Queensland all the way down to Victoria and you’re expecting to encounter multiple weather changes, this is going to be a smart choice to use for an adventure ride.

Protection:

Almost all the best adventure jackets feature CE level 2 approved armour. Shoulders, elbows, back protector, some jackets however you may have to add additional protection yourself. The armour added in an adventure jackets reduces the severity of impact whilst protecting your body. REV'IT have their own kind of back protector that they recommend called Seesoft which is awesome! However, it’s important to look for what the jackets are offering in terms of protection and if you are unsure, give us a call and we can talk you through it.

Alpinestar Halo:

The Alpinestar Halo jacket is a relatively new product to the market. Featuring a dry liner, removable sleeves, and fantastic colouring making the style that much more attractive. With elements constantly impacting the performance of a jacket, the diagonal zippers offer a unique opportunity to maintain jacket durability with dirt and dust not hitting directly in these areas.

We hope that these essential features may offer assistance when choosing your next adventure jacket. Remember to never compromise your protection, comfort or safety whilst riding.  Check out our full range of adventure jackets and other essential riding gear today!
